Ghe systems that process the purification
biologically, according to the principles of active sludge, have for
a long time now been in the history of the development of the
treatments of waste waters. In the 1913, Englishmen Ardern and
Lockett announced the conceptualization of this then revolutionary
system; later it underwent an enormous development, demonstrating
itself to be the type of system that is most versatile in the
purification of waste waters. In fact, the biological purification
of active sludge is the technique currently employed for the water
treatment of communal sewage systems (and in more general terms, of
drainage waters of domestic nature). Almost all of the operating
communal purifiers today in Italy are of this type. The biological
purification of active sludge is the technique that is normally used
for the purification of domestic and city sewage waters, not to
mention biodegradable industrial sewage waters. |
